In part one we spoke about the history of cravats, how they originated and morphed into custom ties. in part 2, I discussed more of the history and some of the psychology behind custom ties or cravats as they were called in those days.
In part 3, I discussed the way in which cravats were made in the 1700’s compared to how custom ties are made or manufactured by tie makers or tie manufacturers these days.
In part 4, I expanded on the make up of custom ties in comparison to the original construction of cravats by the Croat soldiers.
In part 5, I continued with this discussion relating to how modern day custom ties and custom scarves are made, what fabric is required, the print type used, and generally benefits as opposed to for example woven ties as opposed to printed ties.
In part 6, we began to finalise the fabric and manufacturing process of custom ties and custom scarves
In part 7, we continue with finalising the ins and out of how custom ties and custom scarves are made.
As I was saying in part 6, it is extremely important in order to achieve high quality custom ties and custom scarves , it is extremely important that every item used to make custom ties and custom scarves is of the highest possible level and explained how important the cutter is in the whole process.
However, it is not only the cutter who is so important but pretty much every individual involved in the production process.
If the custom ties and custom scarves emanating from a particular factory are made by hand, it is really important to ensure that there is significant focus given to the sewing of the item, the positioning of the logos, the length and width of the custom ties and also the pressing process which is necessary at the final point of the finished product.
If custom ties especially are not pressed properly, they look terrible, incomplete and quite frankly skimpy and I suppose the same can be said for custom scarves as the edges need to be pressed after overlocking.
Many factories have a specific piece of machinery in place which assist with the process of making custom ties significantly, the bigger factories will have more than one and possibly as many as 10 or 20 depending on the output of the factory. This piece of equipment is called a Lieber Machine and completes the process of stitching the length of the custom ties which would other wise have to be done by hand which then can become quite a laborious and time-consuming process and on top of that, it requires a huge amount of focus from the seamstress to ensure that the length of the custom ties is properly sewn and will not fall apart.
By using a Lieber machine, it ensures a more complete and professional look and strengthens the custom ties so they wont fall apart.
