Most certainly printed ties are made by tie makers but the actual fabric, unless the tie makers are also sublimation printers, are not made by tie makers.

However, for the most part, one will find globally that most tie makers also control their own source for printed ties and also woven ties.

Printed ties made by tie makers are custom ties and include many different types of ties such as corporate ties, company ties, matric ties made from matric tie designs, custom school ties(although having said this, all school ties re custom ties simply because they are made exclusively for a school which means that they wouldn’t be worn by any other school which stands to reason since any other school would have their own custom ties or custom school ties made exclusively for their own needs.

Printed ties have been in existence for many years although I have to say, not as long as woven ties which are traditionally the grand father of custom ties.

Custom scarves on the other hand are also made by tie makers or tie manufacturers but they for the most part ore always printed.

The reason why custom scarves or corporate scarves are printed is due to the fact that woven fabric is quite a bit thicker than fabric used for sublimation and so its not really suitable for custom scarves, it doesn’t really work.

Also, one side of woven ties fabric may be fine to use for scarves, but the other side, the rough side, will not work, so basically woven ties fabric is just not suitable for custom scarves.

Woven ties are the option to printed ties or some would say vice versa seeing as how printed ties came after woven ties.

However, the fact remains that both options are custom ties, bith made for the same application really, regardless of which application it may be such as corporate ties, company ties or custom school ties, matric ties etc.

It is important with matric ties to ensure that there are good matric tie designs to back up the good tie otherwise its really difficult to create something special.

Tie suppliers earn their living from the creation and manufacture of custom tie and custom scarves and whether they manufacture woven ties or printed ties is immaterial really as they are both custom ties regardless of the type of design.

It is true that there are certain types of ties that are a better fit for a specific design. When it comes to product promotion or promoting a brand or company in a colour full and bold way then very often, printed ties are the route to go as they tend to be a bit more exciting and from a design perspective more flexible than woven ties.

At the end of the day I believe that woven ties and printed ties both have a place in a tie wearing environment and often it depends on a persons preference of which option works best from a tie perspective which for the most part, tie makers themselves will determine.
