This is true. And whilst custom ties can also be woven ties, custom scarves can only be printed scarves and for the most part sublimated printed scarves in the form of custom scarves and although custom scarves do come in the formats of other types of prints, one will find that the majority of custom scarves especially in South Africa are sublimated.
So having said that printed ties are custom ties and custom ties are also printed ties, it stands to reason that all forms of custom ties are either printed ties or woven ties and for the most part these days, most corporate ties or company ties and corporate scarves are printed- probably around 90%.
Printed ties have been around in significance since the 1970’s and back then they didn’t look great- the format of printed ties was not what it is today, they were quite wide in comparison to what we see today and for the most part they were gaudy often with cartoons all over them or the company name written all over the tie with not as thought for the wearer of the corporate ties.
Its only really in the last 30 years that logo’s and branding on items such as corporate ties or corporate scarves has become a really important thing and companies take car to ensure that they protect the validity of their brands when applying it to any form of promotional item or clothing piece.
It is important for example to ensure when designing corporate ties and corporate scarves and even ties such as matric ties or club ties that the logo is correct proportionally and that the colours are correct to the company CI.
This is where printed ties and custom scarves are so important because when ties or scarves are printed, as long as the printer has the correct pantones, there is no reason or excuse not to ensure that the colours are correct.
Also because of exactness or preciseness of the print process, it is easier to ensure that the logo reflects properly and that it is not distorted as so often happens with woven ties simply because it is not as easy to achieve exactness in weave or should is say that woven ties when it comes to design are not as precise as printed ties and so, if a company is extremely sticky about its logo then very often, the wiser route to go is to do printed ties and scarves as opposed to woven ties. Bearing in mind that all custom scarves are printed and not woven.
The reason for this is that should custom scarves or corporate scarves be woven, they would 1. Be too heavy and 2. The backside of the fabric would reveal the warp or weft of the fabric and not the actual design whereas with printed scarves from a corporate scarves perspective if one uses the correct fabric will show the design on both sides of the scarf.
