My last 3 blogs relating to The Formal Side of School wear have all related to formal uniform itself.

It is important to understand that when it comes to school attire, there are 2 distinct types of school uniform and both of these uniforms can include such things as custom ties in the form of branded school ties, custom school ties aswell as sports ties.

This is really an important thing to keep in mind simply because we always think that custom ties in the form of school ties, whether they are printed ties or woven ties would fall under the formal uniform.

However, when one considers such events a 1^st team rugby or hockey games, there are many schools that have a sports jacket to be worn over their kit. This jacket will be denoted as a 1^st team jacket, in other words another opportunity for a young person to acquire recognition and belonging as a 1st team member which lets face it is really a huge achievement.

However, back to school uniform and the fact that custom ties can be worn with the formal uniform(blazer) aswell as the sports uniform(sports jacket) is quite possible as there are some schools who have a tradition of the boys and girls being able to wear a formal shirt with  custom ties, sports ties etc together with their sports jacket, so in other words, the sports jacket carries the same recognition on sports days when competing against other schools and there is a very good reason for this.

The sports jacket is often constructed with the school colours so that the jacket satands out as a specific school jacket whereas very often the school blazers of many schools are similar and could be mistaken for the wrong school and this is the reason why sports jackets would be allowed on these days.

Sometimes also, when it comes to school scrolls and sports related school scrolls, these can also be applied to the sports jacket to further enhance the prestige go the sports jacket. Note please that only school scrolls sports related ie 1^st Team etc would be acceptable on the sports jacket.

The other item that can differ from formal to sports are of course sports socks as opposed to school  socks.

So this is where for example, short or long sports socks are worn to identify one school from another aswell as one level of team from another.

In most cases when it comes to school socks or sports socks, they would normally be knitted although we see that many schools are opting for printed socks. The jury remains out as to whether this is a smart option or not but time will tell.

So all in all, there are many different uniform aspects that duplicate when it comes to formal and sports uniform within a school.

However, with that said, custom ties in the form of printed ties, sports ties, woven ties, custom school ties, remain the most significant items of both uniform options.
