In continuation of part one of this blog, we will discuss the types of tie fabrics used in the manufacture of custom ties and custom scarves.
Not all custom ties are made from the same tie fabrics, there are several options of fabric available for making custom ties.
The following fabrics are used for the manufacture of printed ties and printed scarves by tie makers or tie manufacturers who also, I must add manufacture custom scarves aswell as custom ties.
1.
- Satin- this is an upmarket tie fabric used more for specialist ties such as matric ties, sports ties, corporate ties, company ties, branded ties etc, these ties are all custom ties and all made by a tie maker in a factory specific to tie manufacturers.
- Mini matt- this fabric is extremely suitable for a more economic requirements and great for custom ties for schools when a lesser option than the satin fabric tie is requires. Mini matt is a hardy fabric that will stand up- to the test of time. Mini matt fabric is used for such ties as striped school ties. Please note that all of these ties are custom ties and all made by tie makers in a factory specific to tie makers or tie manufacturers.
- Twill- this fabric falls somewhere between satin and Mini matt and is a good option for both of the above custom ties, it can be used for a more up market requirement or can also be used for something more economical, however, twill is not as cheap as mini matt but is a little cheaper than satin fabric.

When it comes to ladies scarves there are also three different fabrics ideal for custom scarves or corporate scarves as follows:
- Chiffon fabric- chiffon is the most upmarket and ideal fabric to be used by tie makers in the production of scarves. Chiffon is ideal for custom scarves as it is light and when printed, the design is visible on either side of the chiffon scarf fabric. Please note that all custom scarves are msde by tie makers or tie manufacturers.
- Satin or stretch satin is another excellent option for upmarket custom scarves or corporate scarves, the only negative if one can call it that is that the design doesn’t print through entirely, there is definitely a lesser version of the design on the back side of the fabric. Also, it is heavier than chiffon fabric so in certain circumstances, not as comfortable or more comfortable if it assists with jeeping the persons neck a bit warmer. Please note that all custom scarves are made by tie makers or tie manufacturers
- The 3rd option of fabric mainly used by tie makers to manufacture custom scarves from a corporate perspective is call pongee. This is a cheaper option to scarf requirements which is often used in the production of uniform for such industries as security. Pongee doesn’t print through when printed by a printed ties manufacturer.
