There are essentially 2 sides to school uniform and both have their position within the school environment.First we have the formal side- this includes articles of wear such as blazers, school ties, matric ties and I have to say that all school ties, no matter the use, the sport or the discipline are all custom ties, all school ties fall under the umbrella of custom ties.School ties are such an extremely important part of the uniform that I feel its important to discuss the various options of custom ties for school that are available.Firstly, we have the traditional school tie- this can be a good old stripe or a plain school tie with a logo.If the logo is embroidered and the tie is plain fabric of a certain shade then this will be cheaper than having a tie that’s specially printed- not much cheaper I have to say but there will be a small price consideration.The stripe is the cheapest option and comes in various lengths and width to suit the growing population of the school- especially in the junior schools.For the most part, high schools generally only take one length of school ties because they have done a lot of their growing already so the school ties would either be a full length adult tie or one size below that which actually is quite a bit shorter than the adult length tie.The next offering would then be ties like the matric ties, prefects ties, first team ties etc and all of these are also custom ties but are specialist ties so in other words they are not for everyone, they are fo special occasions or for certain students such as matrics etc.These ties are generally one or a few levels above the run of the mill striped ties or plain ties with embroidery because of the fact that they are special.Again, they come in different lengths if required but normally I have to say that the majority of them are adult length.These ties are for special occasions or for when one has reached a certain level or achieved something of note within the school.I have to add onto this that matric ties are a special tie in this day and age because after all it is quite a feat to reach matric these days.But at the end of the day, all said, these ties are all still custom ties and will remain custom ties because of the fact that each and every school tie or school ties are worn for a specific reason.As this is only part one of this discussion, I will remain on the topic of neckwear because of the fact that the boys are not the only ones wearing neckwear or school ties but in some schools, some of the young ladies are wearing custom scarves which I think is a wonderful thing as it is way more feminine to wear ladies custom scarves.
