The history of formal tie manufacturers goes back many years, in fact as far back as when the first ties were made by the croats in the great war to distinguish themselves from everybody else.

It is true that the Croats were mercenary soldiers and the need for them to have their own recognition was quite significant. So although at that time, the make up of  custom ties or cravats (the word cravat, stems from the word Croat) was way more basic in that it was pretty much a piece of coloured fabric that was ties around the soldiers neck to indicate their belonging, the fact is that these were still the first custom ties made.

Custom ties these days, or for that matter, company ties, corporate ties, club ties and even matric ties are made by tie makers all over the world.

It is also true that tie makers don’t only make ties, they also make custom scarves and corporate scarves which are an integral part of dress codes in many organisations.

Looking back on formal tie production by tie makers, it is probable that the first formal tie production began in the late 1700’s and although in those days more in the form of cravats that custom ties, it was certainly the beginning of formal tie makers or tie manufacturers as they are also known.

Custom ties can encompass pretty much any type of tie including corporate ties, school ties, company ties, branded ties, printed ties, woven ties and many others not excluding the ladies side of things being an integral part of a day on the life of tie makers.

The term custom ties as I have said includes every type of tie and scarf made including fashion items.

Ties South Africa is a term used to describe all forms of custom ties made in our beautiful country South Africa and we need to understand that Ties South Africa has a huge history- quite simply, in our day, South Africa, per working capita in the formal workplace were one of the biggest consumers of custom ties in the form of corporate ties and corporate scarves in the world- the production of custom ties was to say the least significant with millions of printed ties and woven ties being made per annum.

At one time, we were also nett exporters of corporate ties to the USA and the UK who were also both prolific wearers of custom ties.

Its no surprise really as back in the day, we did have quite a formal work place which requires smart dress at all times and very often when companies looked to hand out a gift or reward their staff, it was done in the form of corporate ties or company ties.

These were always much appreciated items which extended to such occasions as long service awards and such like, it really was a special thing to receive a long service tie to be worn with pride.
