There is a distinctive difference between woven ties and printed ties even though they both fall under the umbrella of custom ties.
Back in time before sublimation became a thing, virtually all custom ties were woven ties made my tie makers or tie manufacturers, both big and small.
Traditionally up until fairly recent, woven ties were the preferred custom ties.
However, this has changed a lot simply because there are a number of reasons why printed ties have over taken woven ties in the realm of corporate ties or company ties, even such ties as matric ties and sports ties.
One benefit being that printed ties are cheaper to manufacture than woven ties. added to this is the fact that because most companies are really specific about their company colours or logo colours and want them to be exact.
Whit printed ties, this can be achieved however, with woven ties, one can get really close but one may not be able to match the colour 100 percent in woven ties so this is another benefit which is quite significant in many ways and very beneficial if colours are an absolute specific requirement to be correct.
The other benefit is the fact that with printed ties or sublimated ties, the level of design capability is much higher. Design aspects in printed ties can be achieved more easily than in woven ties.
Another benefit to printed ties is the fact that there is no origination charge with printed ties whereas with woven ties there is an origination charge which does add to the overall cost.
However, please don’t get me wrong, woven ties also being custom ties very much have their place in society and many lovers of custom ties still prefer woven ties to printed ties even if there is a significant difference in cost.
Personally, I have always liked the look and feel of woven ties but over the years because the majority of ties we put through our tie makers I have become more fond of printed ties.
Quite frankly, there is nothing like well designed custom ties which are printed ties provided that there is a huge element of design and that the colours are bold and pull out the design of the tie.
I also have to say that the same goes for custom scarves or corporate scarves and although thes items are not woven and have generally always been printed(as we know them) again, there is nothing that comes close to beautifully printed custom scarves both in look and feel.
Tie makers or tie manufacturers I must also add do certainly make custom scarves together with custom ties, it’s a very accepted procedure.
So my question, why do we get woven ties and printed ties is very relevant when it comes to ties as a whole.
We get woven ties and printed ties because there is a demand for both types of ties.
It depends on the taste and requirement of the client.
