When it comes to promotional ties, it is important to keep in mind that all ties, in fact every tie made in the whole world are custom ties.
Why do I say this? Simply because every tie is designed exclusively for the purpose of requirement.
So for example, if the custom ties are corporate ties then the theme and design must obviously relate specifically to the company or organisation to which they belong.
Corporate ties are also known as company ties, they are pretty much the same thing really except that a company tie could refer to a lower level of tie for example security ties whereas it would be unusual for corporate ties to be worn by a security officer even if they are on the same work premises.
So this I guess, could be the only difference between company ties and corporate ties that I can really think of or that comes to mind.
Other ties such as matric ties or school ties which are also custom ties due to the fact that they have very specific designs and logos specific to the subject they represent such as a school.
Generally, all school ties, which are also custom ties are designed around the school logo or crest or the school colours.
Sometimes, it does happen that school ties will not have the school logos, I which case, normally the ties would be representative of the official school colours in the form generally stripes, which are by far the most numerous ties from a design perspective.
Striped school ties go back a long long time, in fact, striped ties are pretty much the start of school ties simply because back in the day, equipment that made school tie fabric and striped school ties was not sophisticated and could not weave or knit the logo into the ties, so this is when official school colours became really important because it was then that striped school ties became really representative of the school itself without any form of logo or crest, everything was reliant on the colours and the recognition thereof.
I guess the word tie ceremony comes to mind when I think about the history of school ties because there is such a similarity in the meaning of both terms.
All school ties, especially the older and more established schools do represent a proper tie ceremony when worn by all the students and especially at a special event such as a first team sports match. I love it when I see two different schools competing against one another will all the students wearing their custom ties, whether they are striped school ties or plain ties with a logo, it doesn’t matter although I must say that row on row of school goers all dressed in their striped school ties, beautiful custom ties looks so very good at one of the big school sporting events, what a pleasure to watch!!
