This is such a good question and in some ways very easily explainable and in others not so easy to explain and I will elaborate on the reasons.

Firstly, I would consider that if a factory or business has the honour of being called a tie maker or tie makers then they are most certainly specialists at what they do.

I would consider that being called a tie maker would be much more of an honour than being called tie manufacturers, even if they are basically the same thing which of course they are and they are not.

For example, and it still exists that one could be called a hat maker to the king(this would be in the united kingdom) or one could be called jeweller to the king or practically anything in which the king or queen has decided to bestow onto that particular factory or manufacturer.

However, one would not be called tie manufacturers to the King but one could certainly be called tie makers to the King.

This is the difference if one gets my meaning, there is a real difference but also not.

As a tie manufacturer, one could have a huge level of expertise and produce amazing corporate ties or custom ties or branded ties or even school ties, corporate scarves and custom scarves. But the fact is that they would simply not be as well made as if they were made by a tie maker.

There is almost a level of exclusivity credited to being a tie maker as opposed to being tie manufacturers.

Its really weird to think about it this way but there are so many comparable examples that one can consider for example, is Rolls Royce a car maker or car manufacturer? The title of car manufacturer given to a product like Rolls Royce makes me shudder a little even if it meand the same as car maker, perhaps its just a bit more of a refined description.

Maybe it also relates to the size of the operation, perhaps something that is smaller, more exclusive has a different reference to that of something much bigger and not so exclusive.

Perhaps that’s what makes the difference and certainly it is not always the case that a tie maker would make a better tie than a tie manufacturer.

Perhaps the level of exclusivity refers also to the nature of the item, for example some of the worlds top tie brands would most certainly be made by tie makers on a very big scale so in fact, this type of operation could be referred to as tie manufacturers but on a different level, a level closer to that of the expert tie makers that do exist around d the world.

Its almost like asking the question is a tie factory the same as a tie manufacturer? Are they the same thing or is there a difference.

I suppose that’s hard to assume until one see’s both operations.
