Wow! What a good question!

The reason I say this is because both tie maker and custom ties are really both very special items in the life of a tie, be it corporate ties or company ties or school ties or even branded ties which for the purpose are pretty much the same thing as the others I have just mentioned.

Please note also that the term scarf maker together with corporate scarves or custom scarves would also be relevant in this instant as basically, a scarf maker is the same thing as a scarf manufacturer to a point, or is it?.....

So when I picture a tie maker I almost see that description as one little man, or lady for that matter, especially when it comes to a scarf maker. Toiling over a table working hard with loving hands and huge imagination to design and manufacture a custom tie or custom scarves almost on a one off basis or at least making very few at a time but with absolute precision and care taken to turn out the best possible end product.

It’s a bit like the term “car maker” which to me is so much more special than replacing maker with manufacturing.

The term tie maker almost applies to a very special, very bespoke type garment that will be the end result from the tie maker as opposed to the term tie manufacturer which by its very nature the term obviously means something more of a bulk nature, many more ties made and perhaps a little less attention to detail or loving care that may be shown by the tie maker.

Having said that, the term tie manufacturer could also lend itself to a very professional set up where one may not find the level of attention but will certainly find the professional approach, more modern set up perhaps which overall will lead to the production of corporate ties or school ties or even branded ties or custom ties to be manufactured in such an advanced manner that the look of the tie, in other words the end result of the custom ties will look that much better than had they been manufactured by a tie maker per say.

My opinion leans more towards this explanation as I believe that many a tie manufacturer start off as a tie maker and the business evolves and forces then to become a bona fide tie manufacturer as opposed to a tie maker who is perhaps still trying to get to that point or perhaps doesn’t actually want to get to that point but really just want to continue to be a tie maker whilst at the same time offering ladies corporate scarves or custom scarves as part of the process.

On the other hand, one can disregard everything I have said and can accept that a tie maker and a tie manufacturer are exactly the same thing, both do the same things, both offer corporate ties, custom ties, school ties aswell as branded ties and custom scarves.
