As memory recalls, I think I have broached on certain aspects of this topic before albeit some time back but frankly when it comes to tie manufacturers my thoughts haven’t changed in this regard.

What do I think? Simply, I will have to say that my answer is absolutely not. Tie manufacturers may be in danger of becoming smaller in size or set up from an operational perspective but that’s about it.

Reason for saying this is that ties and scarves are a long way from being dead, this is why the same holds true for tier manufacturers.

It is a tie manufacturers job to manufacture many different ties and scarves for many different institutions and organisations.

School ties, corporate ties, company ties, branded ties, custom ties, corporate scarves, custom scarves, custom school ties, ties for a tie ceremony, matric tie designs for matric ties, and ties made up from all types of tie fabrics.

This is probably a shortened list of what tie manufacturers do on a daily of weekly basis.

There is no end to the different number of ties, club ties being another one that are manufactured by tie manufacturers.

It is interesting to note that when it comes to custom ties or branded ties in other words ties made up for a specific purpose using a bespoke design and not fashion related, the demand has not really decreased in the last 20 years, there is still a demand for all types of ties and please understand that when I talk about tie manufacturers, I mean scarf manufacturers aswell simply because any tie manufacturer also make ladies scarves regardless of whether they are corporate scarves or fashion scarves.

It is true to say that back in the day and by the day I mean between the 1950’s and 1980’s ties were a huge thing and at that time there were many tie manufacturers around because  there was so much work available, this was a highly in demand item that demanded specialist and expert attention when it came to the weaving and manufacturing process.

Gradually as the demand for ties in any form(company ties, corporate ties etc) started to dwindle a little well then so did the number of viable tie manufacturers and as always in life, its always the strong one who remains standing.

At the time when clothing manufacturing and tie manufacturers were held in the highest esteem, one of the best manufacturing environments to be involved in was the making of ties and scarves.

When the work flows and there are not any hiccups as far as volume is concerned which there wasn’t back then, it was an absolute pleasure to own a tie manufacturer plant and one of the big reasons was that every movement was the same, each tie or scarf was manufactured in exactly the same way, not like in the clothing manufacturing arena where a factory could have 5-10 different line items each with its own discipline from a manufacturing perspective.
