A good tie maker makes many different ties such as corporate ties, school ties, sports ties, branded school ties, branded ties, custom school ties, custom ties, company ties, matric ties, security ties aswell as corporate scarves, custom scarves and pretty much any other type of tie or scarf one can find.
When it comes to a good tie maker, they are mostly involved in the supply of ties and scarves in whatever form, be it school ties, custom school ties, corporate ties, corporate scarves, company ties and company scarves, custom scarves, security ties, sports ties, branded ties and so the list goes on.
The life of a tie maker is varied from many different perspectives. Because it is impossible for every tie maker to be able to have enough business themselves to keep their production busy it becomes necessary to take on other work in the form of 3rd party manufacture.
The problem with many 3rd party manufacturers is that they do not appreciate the work given to them on an often regular basis by certain tie suppliers, instead, they often see it as fill in work to assist with costs to maintain their overheads and sadly treat their really good third party clients with disdain.
Because of this attitude, which often becomes quite obvious to the client that they are second best and don’t always hold too much importance in the tie makers life, it creates an air of difficulty for the client who feeds a lot of business to the tie maker.
I don’t think that the tie maker takes into account the amount of sales and marketing and the associated spend that their client has to produce in many circumstances and often feel that they have perhaps produced the design, created the sample for approval and made the batch of school ties or corporate scarves and they feel an ownership over this work.
In fact, this is incorrect. The client has fed the work to the tie maker, who in turn carries out the instruction or request regarding artwork that is produced very often by the tie maker as a part of their offering to the client which is then approved and the tie maker is given the go ahead to proceed.
Upon this go ahead, the tie maker will then put the school ties into production in order to be able to supply the client who in turn will supply the end user.
Sometimes the tie maker is also a printer of fabric which is used to make school ties or corporate ties or corporate scarves or custom scarves or club ties or sports ties or matric ties which is a good thing in many ways because it cuts out a third party.
My feeling ultimately is that whilst very often there is a huge leap of faith from the client of the tie maker, there is often not the same amount of response from the tie maker themselves which is an un fortunate situation as far as both parties are concerned as they should be working as a partnership.
