Originally, custom ties were not invented for fashion, they only became fashion items probably 50 years ago maybe a few more.
Yes, custom ties were certainly available as an item to wear with specific clothing but in reality, custom ties were not really manufactured from a fashion perspective until relatively quite recently.
It is interesting to note that custom ties were first invented by the Croats in the 30 year war which took place at the beginning of the 17th century and lasted for – you guessed it- 30 year!!
The Croats back then wore what could be perceived as functional neck chiefs knotted to hold their shirts together, but there was way more to the original Cravat then this as the original cravat named after the Croats was also worn to signify belonging and togetherness amongst a group of men all with a similar background and certainly from the same country.
The Croatian soldiers back then were mercenaries fighting on the side of France to assist them in winning his long and tedious war.
Its funny to think that the original tie was made in a time of war to hold together the mens shirts as well as create a common bond between the Croatian soldiers.
And today, custom ties in the form of corporate ties, company ties, branded ties, club ties, matric ties, school ties are all made for the very same reason.
In his wisdom, King Louis X1V adopted the croat as a fashion item and renamed it the Cravat- a French tone on a Croatian discovered item. Which I have to say are today, custom ties in all forms, printed ties and woven ties which continue to fill the need originally fulfilled by the original croat or Cravat as it became known.
Custom ties as I have indicated, cover many different areas of custom ties. Firstly, there are custom ties worn as uniform ties such as security ties.
Then there are custom ties made for a higher level of uniform such as the banking environment which as now reached a point of realising that it is important for their staff to be properly and adequately dressed and for the most part, this dress includes custom ties and custom scarves as a part of the uniform.
A lot of thought and preparation goes into this uniform item, more so than your standard run of the mil uniform which is more functional than it is fashion related with the emphasis being on economy and functionality.
Uniform in these particular areas for example banking is of a high level and extremely important in the scheme of things- it serves as a window to the institutions morals and values when it comes to how they present their staff to the customer.
Ladies custom scarves or corporate scarves are an extremely important part of this process as one will imagine, not least of all the fact that there are more female than male employees in the banking world.
