School ties are these days probably the most purchased types of custom ties, they permeate throughout most schools in one form or another, those schools that do wear school ties as opposed to those who have a more formal school uniform dress code are fortunate enough to be able to celebrate their tradition using formal clothing such as custom ties, blazers etc to celebrate this fact.
Those schools which for whatever reason choose not to have a formal uniform are not building a tradition, tradition does not get made walking around in t shirts and golf shirts that after a few washes start to look tatty and poor.
I am biased in my views not only because we manufacture school ties or custom ties made for schools but because I am a big believer in schools building solid tradition regardless of whether they are wealthy schools, middle of the road or originating from under privileged areas, it makes no difference.
Whether schools are long established or recently opened, it makes no difference, one of the key responsibilities of the person in charge of that school is to build a tradition, build a story so that parents want to send their children to a specific school because it’s the right school for their kids, they will have the correct morals instilled in them, they will be educated with discipline and taught how to show respect to their elders and fellow school goers, that they will be able to establish life long relationships and when the CV becomes an important part of their lives, then the school does matter, no matter what anybody thinks or says.
And for this reason, custom ties and even custom scarves in the form of school ties or scarves for the girls is a really important part of this story.
The person who sat down one day and said ”lets make our uniform cheap and affordable, lets do away with the blazer and custom ties, long pants, skirts and skorts, shirts and blouses, lets bring in cheap t shirts, flimsy shorts and track suits, lets build a laid back tradition that lacks pride and respect and you know what? Let the boys have their hair as long as they want aswell”
The result of this kind of thinking kills tradition, you cannot grow tradition in schools by taking these kind of steps.
Please don’t think that I am including the earlier grades in this and even up to grade 7, this could be an option to wear more casual uniform although I have to tell you that building a tradition of blazers and custom ties made as school ties in the earlier grades is a great thing because all that happens is that one builds the understanding and instills it into the young person at an even earlier age.
Also, don’t get me wrong, I do understand that there are many schools that feel they cannot afford the more formal uniform and that’s ok, but wherever possible, the formal uniform and custom ties made into school ties does matter, a lot.
