This is certainly quite a good question.

The reason being that it sounds quite ludicrous that tie makers or tie manufacturers would consider making school socks but the fact is that this does happen from time to time depending on the size of the factory involved and the flexibility thereof.

Many factories have become multi skilled meaning that within one factory, many items such as custom ties, printed ties, branded ties, corporate ties and even school scrolls are manufactured along with school socks.

What is happening with many factories is that instead of specialising in one or a few items, they are instead choosing a discipline or subject around which they work such as school uniform which also encompasses school ties.

This is not a bad idea if one is looking to be more than just a manufacturer because by specialising in a specific area, a factory can actually become a general supplier of different items all made under one roof.

Sometimes this is not possible, for example I don’t think it would be ideal for woven ties and school socks to be made under one roof unless they are separate areas completely because there is such a difference between the two disciplines.

Please also note that when it comes to school socks, the same machines can also be making custom socks and corporate socks on the same machines.

But, for example, matric tie designs could be converted into printed ties which are custom ties including corporate ties, company ties, custom scarves and corporate scarves.

Ties South Africa is a term used for custom ties manufactured in South Africa and it is not common knowledge I believe that we do have quite a sophisticated custom ties market covering all aspects of tie requirements.

I mentioned also school scrolls which includes academic scrolls, embroidered scrolls and scroll badges- all linked to the process of embroidery.

Sports ties are another item known as custom ties because of their uniqueness.

Why do I say uniqueness? Quite simply because all sports ties are bespoke made for a specific club or team and it would not make any sense for example for a member of one club to be wearing another tie or branded item belonging to another club. In fact, this really doesn’t happen unless there is a specific reason.

Tie fabrics are also quite important when it comes to a specialist factory that makes custom ties. the reason for this is that they use a lot of tie fabrics in the manufacture of their corporate ties for example.

Although I have digressed quite a bit from the title of this blog, I felt it important to let you know how many factories work these days.

Generally, the bigger factories will stick to their knitting and pump out bulk, but the smaller factories have become a lot more adaptable and flexible due to necessity most of the time as they need to continually fill their production lines with one item or another.

So with this said, tie makers or tie manufacturers may also be good at making other items.
