In simple terms a tie maker is a manufacturing point, normally with 10 or more people involved from a production perspective right up to hundreds of people in the very big factories which don’t exist in South Africa but does exist in other parts of the world such as China, India and South America.

Because the world is still such a big wearer of custom ties and custom scarves the requirement for good tie makers or tie manufacturers is massive globally.

You can only imagine that walking into a clothing store for example and seeing custom ties and custom scarves- albeit fashion items, they are still custom made to a specific design so still fall under the same description as any other tie or scarf.

And seeing perhaps a few hundred items on sale, items being custom ties and custom scarves and then multiplying that by the number of shops that actually stock ties and scarves and by doing a couple of sums in your head, one can realise how many custom tis and custom scarves actually get made by tie makers or tie manufacturers globally- the number is millions and millions.

And so, with this in mind, one can only imagine that there needs to be significant numbers of tie makers or tie manufacturers around to accommodate this production.

Also, there are different types of production undertaken by tie makers in the form of school ties for example which is a really specialist form of manufacture simply because of the number of different length and width ties required in a school environment.

For example, when it comes to school ties, and for example, the school is both a primary and high school, then there could be as many as 5 different lengths and widths of ties required in this environment.

Now it is unlikely that tie makers or tie manufacturers specialising for example in the manufacture of high end fashion ties (also falling under the umbrella of custom ties) will be able to change their manufacturing procedure to accommodate different lengths and widths on a continual basis, its simply not feasible, so in this case, this is where an often smaller manufacturing environment is far more suited to this type of item simply because they are so much more adaptable and their processes allow them to be able to make changes.

Also, I must add that in this case, many of the staff employed in this type of institution are quite easily able to switch from one thing to the next whereas is a bigger  tie makers environment, it is less easy and people are far more specifically trained to carry out one specific  part of the process of making custom ties or custom scarves.

A tie maker makes many different ties to name a few would be such items for tie ceremony, school ties, matric ties using matric tie designs,  bobby knot ties, promotional ties, custom ties for schools including custom school ties, custom ties, company ties, branded ties and corporate ties just to mention a few!
